Baltimore is in full-swing summer mode! I love it, I hope you do too and if not, here are some events going on in the city to help get you there.
On Thursday, WTMD will be hosting their First Thursday concert in West Mt. Vernon park (just look for the monument, listen for the music). The concert starts at 5:30 and will be featuring Alpha Rev, Goldspot and Ivan & Alyosha. You can check out their tunes and more details here. Feel free to bring your own blankets, chairs, food and drinks. Warning – it does get packed quickly, so if you want a prime seat, get there early. If not, by the end of the evening, everyone is standing and socializing in the great outdoors of Baltimore City.
On Friday, you can hit up another “first”, the Lithuanian Hall hosts their Save Your Soul Dance Party every First Friday featuring cheap beers and great soul and R&B music. It can be empty until 10:30-10:45PM, then a full-out-one-in-one-out line by 11:30PM, time yourself wisely. It is technically a private hall (vs. a public bar) so it is $10 for a “membership” or find a member and only pay $5 (cash only). Either way, cheap drinks and lots of dancin inside!
If awesome kind-of underground dance parties and cheap drinks aren’t your thing (what? who are you?), you can also check out the Dirty Heads playing FO FREE at Power Plant Live as a party of their “Friday Night Live” series. $2 Miller Lights from 4-7PM will make you feel better that you are at Power Plant for the night.
After your night of music, head to the Hon Fest on Saturday (11AM-10PM) or Sunday (12-6PM). This is a local tradition hosted in Hampden and a hoot for sure. Featuring Hon Contests, Best Natty Boh Mustache, great people watching, the O’s Bird, plenty of flamingos, bands and more!
You can also celebrate Baltimore and Tour Dem Parks, Hon. Check out some of Baltimore’s coolest parks by bike – including Carroll, Patterson, Herring Run and Druid Hill Park. From 7AM-3PM on Sunday.
Have fun, hon!
