I know this year’s winter has been dragging on, but I can’t be the only one who is sick of hearing about it. Snow, weather, shoveling, yea yea yea. Spring is almost here and if we can make it through March, we will be good to go. To help you do that, I’ve searched around for some fun events in Baltimore throughout the month of March.
You may not be down in New Orleans, but you can still celebrate Mardi Gras up here in the north. On Tuesday, March 4, Sláinte, Kooper’s and Woody’s Rum Bar will be celebrating their annual Fat Tuesday celebration. There will be bands playing some New Orleans tunes, the kitchens cooking up some cajun inspired dishes and the bartenders serving up some drink specials, including $5 hurricanes, $4 Bacardi punch and $4 Abita beers.
On Saturday, March 8th, kick off your St. Patrick’s day celebrations early with the Federal Hill Irish Stroll. Think less strolling, more drinking, basically a bar crawl taking over the Federal Hill area. Be sure to deck out in all green and remember it is a marathon, not a sprint (and that it is still only the 8th, not the 17th yet).
On Monday, March 10th, the Charmery will be taking over the Shoo-Fly diner in Belvedere Square for “Sundae’s on Monday.” They will be pairing the Charmery’s ice cream with Shoo-Fly’s comfort food. Head on over for Chicken & Waffles with ice cream, booze-filled milkshakes and more from 4-9PM.
Continue your St. Patrick’s day celebrations with a St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Baltimore and the Shamrock 5K. These take place on Sunday, March 16th, kicking off at the Washington Monument.
Have you already cranked through all 13 episodes of House of Cards Season 2 and have nothing left to do with your free time? Fear not, head to the Windup Space on March 17th for their “House of Cardgames” game night. Bring your favorite card based game and enjoy drink specials from 8PM-Midnight. Yes, this means anything from Magic to Cards Against Humanity.
On Thursday, March 20th, the Maryland Institute and College of Art will host a showcase night for the new “Brewmore” documentary. It will chronicle the history of beer in Baltimore, showcasing some of your favorites like Union Craft Brewery and Stillwater Ales. The evening will also include a set by Caleb Stine and brews provided by local breweries (of course). Doors are at 6PM and the film plays at 7:45PM. See the trailer below:
Finish out the month with some neon and teased hair. On Saturday, March 22nd, deck yourself out in some 80’s gear and head to Ram’s Head Live to watch the Legwarmers rock out. They’ll play tribute to all your favorite 80s song. So remember, “this is aint no half-assed cover band.”
